How We Use InBody 570 to Customize Your Fat Loss Plan
Obesity is a serious problem as it leads to a number of conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and even cancer. It’s easy to disregard the situation when you gain a few pounds during the holidays, but things can quickly get out of hand to the point where there are significant negative health consequences.
If you’ve tried different diet plans with no success, it might be time for a more scientific approach. At Rochester Medical Weight Loss Center, we use InBody 570 technology to develop a custom fat loss plan that helps you succeed.
A Detailed Look at Your Body
Many diet plans work solely on the numbers you get from your bathroom scale, but your weight doesn’t tell the whole story. A significant portion of your body’s mass is made up of water, which can fluctuate for a number of different reasons. We dig deeper by using InBody 570 technology, which is an evolution of a process known as bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Simply stand on a platform and hold two electrodes as our equipment runs harmless electrical currents of varying frequencies through your body to get readings on various substances:
- Intracellular water
- Extracellular water
- Body fat mass
- Dry lean mass
By using different currents, we’re able to isolate specific regions of the body such as the torso, which typically accounts for as much of half of the body’s entire weight, and also contains dangerous belly fat.
Developing a Fat Loss Plan
Once the 45-second BIA scan is complete, we’ll have a complete readout of the amounts of fat, muscle and water weight in your body. Our physician will work with the program coordinator and exercise physiologists to create a custom fat loss program with lifestyle changes such as diet and activity augmentation. This isn’t a case of devising a strategy and sending you on your way; you’ll continue to get scans whenever you come in for a visit to see the effects on your target numbers so we can make any necessary changes to your fat loss plan.
