What to expect when you sign up for your weight loss journey with our team
Hey Rochester, are you gearing up for Turkey Day when we feast on well-seasoned bird, stuffing, some salty casseroles and sweet cranberry sauce, apple cider, and maybe a finish with pecan pie and ice cream?
Although delicious, Thanksgiving meals include a lot of calories (aka, the enemy to anyone determined for healthy weight loss). What’s the best way to prepare for not only Thanksgiving but the upcoming holiday season as well? We recommend partnering with a weight loss team who can provide all the tools you need for weight loss.
We Want to Help!
Are you emotionally ready to begin your weight loss journey? We want to be your accountability partner, but we don’t want you to be nervous about our programs. That’s why we’ve written a tour of our process to help you know what to expect when you join with us. Start your personalized weight loss journey today, before the holiday season begins!
1. Consultation
During the consultation stage, we ask about your medical history, comorbidities, current medication you may be taking, and your personal weight loss goals. Although we can’t replace your primary caregiver, we do offer the medical care and support you need to manage your weight. During the consultation stage, we ask you if you are truly ready to adopt healthy living.
“We can provide all the tools you need to achieve effective weight loss, but you must be committed and determined.” ~ Dr. Rana Masood
2. Fill out Paperwork
If you decide to adopt the RMWL team, we’ll have you fill out paperwork that outlines your program. Your insurance carrier may compensate you for a portion of the bill – we always encourage our patients to ASK their insurance if they do. We accept HSA and FSA accounts for program fees and meal replacements.
We understand that you want to keep your weight loss plans private. Everything about our program is confidential.
3. Examination
Our Program Coordinator/Behaviorists walks you through a general examination that includes an EKG (Electrocardiogram), blood pressure, current weight, and height, etc. Since obesity is determined by 3 different factors, we document
- BMI (Body Mass Index) on our Inbody230 Machine
- Body Fat Percentage
- Waist Measurement
4. Exercise Examination
Our Exercise Physiologists, meet with you one-on-one to find an exercise routine that suits your specific needs. They show our patients how to perform each exercise safely and efficiently.
5. Consultation with Dr. Masood
Dr. Masood sits down with each new patient and works through a program based on each patient’s needs and weight loss goals. As a board-certified bariatrician, medications may be used to treat obesity to help with underlying cause. Any prescribed medication will be done under close supervision.
6. Provide Food
We provide patients with meal replacements and/or a calorie controlled diet so that they can get the nutrients they need while limiting their stimulus. We explain how to use and prepare the meal replacements.
7. Follow up with a weekly call and a biweekly visit
“It’s very hard to lose weight on your own. That’s why in our program, we follow up with accountability and counseling. Weight loss is a change of lifestyle, not something you cross off your list.” ~ Dr. Rana Masood
If you don’t make an effort to keep the weight off, you will get it back. Weight loss is a lifestyle change, not a one-time thing. Permanent weight loss includes both exercise and diet – consultation can help but only if you act on the advice.
What sets RMWL apart from other weight loss clinics?
We support diet and exercise, but you don’t need to pay money to hear someone tell you that. As a board certified bariatrician, Dr. Masood is qualified to prescribe medication to assist you with hunger pains and weight loss.
We hope your tour helps you understand what to expect when you join our program! If you need to prepare for the coming holiday season, call 585.467.8838 or book your appointment now!
